Hedgehogs

Welcome to Hedgehog's Class 2021-2022
In Hedgehogs, we are friendly, enthusiastic and determined!
We love being with our friends and thrive at attempting all the different learning that is asked of us.  We enjoy varied approaches to our learning and particularly enjoy art, PE and being outside in our wooded area.

We hope you enjoy seeing what we have been getting up to!
This term in Art we have been learning about sculpture. We have looked into the sculptor Marc Quinn. We have created sculptures using Marc Quinn's flowers as our inspiration. We used clay to create our sculptures and painted them to make them as colourful as Marc Quinn's.
This term in Design and Technology we have been learning to sew. The children learnt a few different sewing stitches, such as running stitch and back stitch. They used these stitches to create puppets.
Here is our Fabulous Finish for our topic Australia.
We dressed up in yellow and blue to raise money for Ukraine.

On World Book Day 2022 we shared our favourite stories and we designed onomatopoeic spaceships!

On 26th January we celebrated Australia Day. We made Lamingtons, (A traditional Aussie cake), and we decorated them with chocolate, coconut and jam! We found out about Australian wildlife and landscapes and we enjoyed painting indigenous pictures, boomerangs and didgeridoos. It was fun and a Stunning Start.

This Autumn term we are going to be learning all about the Victorians. To start off our learning we had a 'Stunning Start'. On this day, we dressed as people would have during the Victorian era, made toys Victorian children would have played with and pretended to be in a Victorian classroom.
Well done to all the Year 3s who took part in the cross country event at Park school on 30/09/2021. A special mention must go to the girls who all finished within the top 12.
On Friday 8th October, Hedgehogs joined the rest of the school in taking part in the London Mini Marathon.
Here are our learning Friends:
Tenacious Toby, Friendly Flic, Curious George and Skilful Sally.
They help us with our growth mindset and help us to believe that although learning can be tricky, with some time, practise, curiosity and determination we can all get there in the end!
